Michael J. Nigro serves as a Managing Director and Head of Real Estate Value Add & Development and is a Member of the Leadership Committee & Americas Investment Committee. During his career at DWS, Mr. Nigro has helped integrate efforts resulting in the sourcing, structuring, and Investment Committee approval to date of over $6 billion in renovation & development. Mr. Nigro has been the Principal-in-Charge of developing 6,300 multi-family units and over 12 mm square feet of commercial development throughout the US. The Firm’s projects have received numerous industry awards, and are some of the nation's first generation LEED certified projects. He created a value maximization program for DWS’ existing property portfolio through upzoning, renovation, expansions, incentives, build-to-suits, and outparcel activation. Mr. Nigro served as Principal-in-Charge of The Domain in Austin, Texas, where under his tenure, $65 mm NAV resulted in an $270 mm (4x) equity multiple without calling additional capital. Prior to joining the firm in 2004, Mr. Nigro served as a Senior Manager at Mesirow Financial Real Estate, where he was responsible for large public-private partnership projects. He began his career as a Project Manager. Mr. Nigro holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.B.A. in Finance (with Distinction) from DePaul University and is a licensed professional engineer.
